Filmmakers Academy strongly believes in the hands-on model of education. The best way to learn is by doing and immersing yourself in the activity from all aspects.
Mission
To teach Christian youth how to effectively communicate for the glory of God through the medium of film.
Teams
During the 1st week of class all students will be assigned a team for the next 6 weeks. Every effort will be made to ensure that all teams are as geographically close as possible.
Once a week the teams will come to class to learn about a new aspect of filmmaking. At the end of class all the teams will be given a Challenge to complete in 1 week. Each team will then decide how, when, and where to complete their assignment.
Challenges
Every Challenge will be a short 1-4 minute video based on a phrase or word provided by the Academy’s teachers.
Team Producer
Every team will have an older student who will serve as the Team’s Producer for all 6 weeks. The Producer will be responsible for overseeing every Challenge and ensuring that their team fulfills it every week.
Parental Involvement
Filmmakers Academy strongly encourages parental participation at all levels. Parents are always responsible for the behavior of their children, in school or out, and the Academy is no exception.
